Filipino American Chamber of Commerce of Silicon Valley

I am Augusto V Orozco Jr. Friends and acquaintances call me Don. I am a resident of Silicon Valley in the South San Jose area. I am a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in both Management and Marketing. I studied at the Philippine School of Business Administration.

During my high school and college days I have been an activist and a community leader. In fact, before I graduated from college I was elected Kabataang Barangay Chairman and served for 5 years. Kabataang Barangay is a youth association created and formed by the Philippine national government to ensure youth are engaged in more productive activities and move away from drugs and gangs.

After graduating from college, I ended up working in one of the major banks in the Philippines. I started as a clerk that handles foreign remittances from Overseas Filipino Workers. I moved up and became a resource person for the bank that promotes the use of formal banking systems. I handled the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar.  I eventually rose up and became a Branch Manager. From banking I transitioned into a media practitioner.

I initially became a resource person in a radio show discussing the Anti Money Laundering Law. The director of the show loved how I handled myself and was offered to try being a news anchor. I enjoyed it so much that I requested to become a beat reporter and eventually a news writer, show producer and TV talent. I eventually immigrated to the US with my family.

I came to the US in April of 2004 in the Windy City of Chicago. After just one year my family decided to move to California. I felt that the weather in the Bay Area was much better. Plus there is more opportunity for growth since my wife is a frontliner.

I became a jack of all trades from working at United States Postal Service to AT&T and to Wells Fargo Bank. I became a licensed Notary Public and decided to do Notary full time.

I transitioned from being Notary Public to being a licensed Insurance Agent for Life and Non-Life as well as in the Funeral and Cemetery industry. During all those years I continued to practice journalism and became an international news correspondent for a Radio and Television network in the Philippines. I used to travel frequently to the Philippines to do TV shows and special radio programs. Covid changed everything and decided to stay put in the Bay.

I am now host of Radyo Agila Sa Amerika. I feature Filipinos from all over the world. These are Filipinos that are making a difference in this world. The show is heard all over the Philippines through Radyo Agila 1062khz/95.5FM/Net25TV and on FB and YT Live. I also am a contributing writer for different Filipino American publications from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sacramento. I also write for some newspapers in the State of Texas.

Finally, as an advocate for small businesses and entrepreneurship I've been a founding board member of the Coalition of Filipino American Chamber of Commerce, this is a coalition of more than 30 chambers from all over the US and Director of the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce of Silicon Valley.
